The Yukon Foundation is honoured to disburse Scholarships 

from funds that were established in memory or in recognition

of Yukon community members and organizations.

ADRIAN FISHER

A scholarship to assist Yukon post-secondary students who are studying education or fine arts.  Applicants must have graduated from a Yukon secondary school. 

​

AL OSTER 

A scholarship for a Yukon post-secondary music student who will pursue the recording of compositions that feature Yukon history or legends.  The applicant must be a three-year Yukon resident.  Applicants must provide a statement about their musician career aspirations. 

 

ALANO CLUB 

A scholarship for Yukon students studying social work, clinical research or counselling with a stated career goal of working or studying in a field related to addiction or the effects of addictions. One-year Yukon residency required. Preference will be given to students who abstain from alcohol and drug use, who are considered to be mature students, and who lack the financial resources to enter or complete their course of studies.

 

ALEC BERRY

A scholarship to assist mature students working on post-graduate studies in mining, geology, metallurgical sciences.

AMANDA TAYLOR

A scholarship for a student pursuing studies in the field of geography, forestry, environmental studies, or urban/rural planning. Applicants must be enrolled in 2nd to 5th year or in post-graduate studies; must be a graduate of a Yukon secondary school; and must provide a statement describing their educational and personal goals with references to the qualities that Amanda exemplified. AMY DALKE ILES

This fund disburses two scholarships:

  • A scholarship for a student in the field of health care

  • scholarship for a student studying any of the apprenticeship trades

Applicants must have resided in the Yukon for 3 years, and be entering into the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of their chosen field of study. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

ARCHIE BRUCE

A scholarship for Yukon secondary school graduates who are studying engineering or science, and are enrolled in their 2nd to 5th year of study. â€‹

 

BABE (Evelyn) RICHARDS 

A scholarship for Yukon secondary school graduates pursuing post-secondary studies in child development. Preferably a Yukon secondary school graduate but if not then a resident for at least one-year.

 

BEA & GEORGE McLEOD

A scholarship for students studying in the field of aviation, and for students obtaining a commercial pilot’s license or an aircraft maintenance engineer license. One-year Yukon residency required.

 

BEA FIRTH

A scholarship for a Yukon resident studying nursing or medicine.

 

BELLE & CURLY DESROSIERS

A scholarship for a student who is physically challenged.

 

BEN SHEARDOWN

A scholarship for a Yukon post-secondary student studying renewable resources or environmental studies. Applicants must be born and educated in Yukon. Rural students are encouraged to apply. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide recommendation from school counsellor. 

 

BERT & KAREN HADVICK (not available in 2024)

A scholarship to provide financial assistance to Yukon residents who are pursuing post-secondary education in: 

  1. business management OR

  2. the trades 

Applicants must provide evidence that they are dedicated and hard working.

 

BETTY & CHARLES TAYLOR

A scholarship for a Yukon student studying medicine. 

 

BILL BOWIE

A scholarship for Yukon post-secondary residents pursuing studies in renewable resources. Priority for studies in forestry and/or forest management. One-year Yukon residency required. Preference will be given to Yukon secondary school graduates. 

 

BOREAL ALTERNATE ENERGY CENTRE

A scholarship for a deserving recipient interested in the study of alternate energy and who is attending a university or school of technology.

 

BRIAN CAMPION

A scholarship for a Yukon student studying law.

 

BRIAN MORRIS

A scholarship for Yukon graduates participating in post-secondary studies, in any field, to further their education in a certificate, diploma, under-graduate degree, or trades in-school training.  Must be a Yukon graduate, have 3 year residency, and provide two letters of reference. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and will be asked to make a statement about how their life's circumstances have limited their access to funding.

BUD McKAY 

A scholarship ($500) to assist Yukon residents engaged in an initial accredited trade programs, and further studies in any program associated with the trades.  

​

CHUCK HALLIDAY

A scholarship for a Yukon resident pursuing post-secondary studies in business or economics.  Three-year Yukon residency required.

 

CLAUDIA ANN LOWRY 

A scholarships for students pursuing a post-secondary art program.

 

COMMISSION SCOLAIRE FRANCOPHONE DU YUKON (Not available in 2024)

Scholarships for students who are Yukon residents, are graduating from a francophone school, and are undertaking post-secondary studies in French. Applicants are required to submit a letter describing their francophone experience in Yukon.

DALE CORMAN / WESTERN COPPER & GOLD

Scholarships established by Western Copper & Gold (Casino Mining), to provide financial support for Yukon students pursuing educational advancement in the fields of science and engineering, with a focus on mining. ​

​

DAWSON CITY WOMEN'S CONTINUING EDUCATION

A scholarship ($5,000) to encourage Dawson City women to pursue new and diverse skills sets through training, certification and other education by providing a small cash award towards these endeavours. Must currently be a resident of Dawson City or residing in the Klondike electoral district, and have lived in the community for a minimum of five years. Applicants must be planning to return to Dawson City.

DAWSON DISTRICT RENEWABLE RESOURCES COUNCIL

A scholarship for a post-secondary student who:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen

  • Must have lived in the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in for at least two years

  • Must be a undergraduate, graduate or doctoral student in a recognized certificate/diploma/degree program

  • Must be studying biology, ecology, environmental management, natural resource management, with preference going to students studying renewable resource management 

  • Two letters of reference are required

 

DEBRA DUNGEY 

A scholarship to assist women of the Yukon who require financial assistance to further their education at any recognized educational institution.

 

DEREEN HILDEBRAND

A scholarship for a student attending art school.

 

DONALD HOY 

A scholarship for a youthful student studying music either in Yukon or outside of the territory. Applicants must be a youth, a resident of Yukon for five years, and must demonstrate financial need.

 

DORREENE & HERB WAHL

A scholarship for Yukon graduate students to continue their education in the fields of education or environmental studies. Or on occasion a project by a graduate student to increase the knowledge within the Yukon in education or environmental sciences. Environmental sciences includes: climatology, meteorology, glaciology, permafrost, soils, vegetation, wildlife, and horticulture. 

 

DOUGLAS B. CRAIG

A scholarship to provide financial support for students of environmental concerns, pursuing post-secondary training in the fields of environmental engineering, climate change or relevant studies. Applicants must be attending a recognized university, college or trade school.  

 

DR. ANNE WILLIAMS

A scholarship for medical students specializing in family medicine.  Five-year continuous Yukon residency required. 

 

DR. "BOB" F. ROBERT WINTONYK

A scholarship for a Yukon resident who has demonstrated financial need, has been accepted into a medical school, and plans to practice medicine in Yukon. Applicants should prepare a short statement showing demonstrated interest and academic excellence with an intent to attend medical school, as well as some experience in volunteer or community work. Include a resume, proof of attendance at or graduation from a Yukon secondary school, and university transcripts when applicable. 

 

DR. BRENT SLOBODIN

A scholarship ($1,000) established in loving memory of Dr. Brent Slobodin, to foster study in the humanities and support an upper-year (second year and up) Yukon student with a demonstrated interest in, and intent to specialize, in one or more of the following Humanities subjects at a provincial university: History, Political Studies, Philosophy, Classics, English, Languages. Candidates for the Dr. Brent Slobodin Memorial Scholarship in the Humanities should prepare a short statement (no more than four pages, typed and double-spaced), showing demonstrated interest and academic excellence with an intent to specialize in one of the above subject areas, as well as some experience in volunteer or community work. Candidates should include their resume, and both secondary school and university transcripts. Two-year residency in the Yukon, including graduating year, and must have graduated from a Yukon secondary school.

DR. NESTA LEDUC

A scholarship established to assist Yukon post-graduate students (5th year education, master's degree or PhD) pursuing training or studies in:

  1. environmental sciences OR

  2. health related studies

Five-year residency in the Yukon is required.

 

EARL THORNTON

A scholarship established for Yukon residents enrolled in the drywall craft or any of the accredited apprenticeship trades training programs.  Three year residency requirement and must demonstrate financial need.

 

ERIK HERSHOLT NIELSEN (Not available in 2024)

A scholarship ($1,000) for a Yukon student who is enrolled in a program that relates to the study of ethics, within one of the following: social justice, law, policing, politics, journalism or public service. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and their aptitude and interest in ethics. Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and who is enrolled in a specific ethics based program within a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree.  Five-year residency requirement.

FAY ANTHONY 

A scholarship to help Yukon residents with expenses for post-secondary education in health sciences including health promotion, sports and fitness, medical technologies (radiology, x-ray technician, ultrasound technology), nursing, medicine, and physician training. Applicants must be Yukon residents and can be at any level of post-secondary education.  

 

FLO WHYARD-HOLLAND AMERICA LINE  (Not available in 2024)

A scholarship for a woman studying journalism as a major and pursuing a career in journalism.

 

FRANK & RITA MOONEY 

A scholarship for a Yukon student pursuing studies in nutrition, consumer studies, teaching or engineering. Preference given to 1st year Catholic students or any Yukon student attending St. Francis Xavier University. Successful recipients may re-apply but preference to new applicants. Preference given to those with demonstrated volunteer community service. Students must demonstrate financial need and have good grades.

G.I. AND MARTHA CAMERON

A scholarship for a Yukon-born resident pursuing post-secondary training in nursing or a degree in the humanities. Applicants are required to submit a statement about why they have chosen to pursue their chosen career path. 

 

GARRY PHILLIPS

A scholarship for studies or training in:

  1. accredited apprenticeship technical trades OR

  2. home care nursing

Two-year residency is required.

 

GARY REYNOLDS

A scholarship for Yukon students in their 4th year or 5th year of studies, and Yukon post-graduate students, attending a post-secondary institute. Preference for students who are hard-working, but high grades are not a requirement. Applicants must provide statements about financial need.

 

GENERAL FUND

Scholarships for Yukon students in 4th & 5th year or who are pursuing post-graduate degrees. The General Fund is made up of original funds that were invested when the Foundation was founded, as well as a number of new, smaller non-segregated funds.​​

 

GEOFFREY BRADSHAW

A scholarship for a Canadian citizen enrolled in a Canadian university in the first or second year of a graduate Geology program and must be working on a thesis with a Yukon field component. An individual can be awarded the scholarship more than once.  Priority is given to applicants who have not previously received the scholarship.

 

GLADYS BRUCE

A scholarship to provide funds for a student going into post-secondary studies in biology related fields and/or geology. Applicants must have graduated from a Yukon secondary school. 

 

GORDON & RUTH McINTYRE

A scholarship for Yukon graduates pursuing a degree in the field of education.

 

GORDON NEWMAN

A scholarship to assist Yukon students in post-secondary education in the recreation field. One–year Yukon residency required.

 

GOVERNMENT OF YUKON LEGACY 

Scholarships for Yukon students in any field of study - made possible from funds generously donated to the Yukon Foundation by the Government of Yukon.

HAMPTON SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship for a student enrolled in a short-term (less than 6 months) arts and crafts program. Priority will be given to applicants who are: 21 years or younger, residents of the Campbell Region (Watson Lake to Carmacks), and/or members of a First Nation. Secondary students are eligible. Academic references are not a priority. 

​

HARRY JOHANNES

A scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in engineering sciences, with emphasis on geology. Must demonstrate financial need.

 

HEINZ & MARK EICHHORN

A scholarship for a Mayo student studying:  

  1. renewable resources OR

  2. mechanics, including apprenticeship programs

Students from Mayo have priority, but Yukon students can apply as well.

 

HELEN & ORVAL COUCH 

A scholarship for a student who has been a resident in Yukon for at least two years and enrolled in one of the following: 

  1. heavy duty mechanics or any registered apprenticeship trade

  2. political studies

  3. child development

  4. agriculture OR

  5. nursing

 

HERITAGE NORTH

A scholarship established for Canadian post-secondary students who are studying or conducting research in natural and cultural history, with preference for studies that benefit national parks and national historic sites and that benefit the Chilkoot Trail or the Yukon.

 

HERMAN PETERSON

A scholarship established for Yukon residents engaged in accredited apprentice trades training programs.

 

HOUGEN FAMILY

A scholarship for a student involved in the scholarly study, preservation, and enhancement, of historical and cultural activities related to the life and progress of the Yukon.

 

IVAN & DIANNA RAKETTI (Not available in 2024)

A scholarship for a students pursuing a career in the trades or working on project management qualifications.

J. J. VAN BIBBER

A scholarship for a Yukon First Nation student enrolled in post-secondary certificate, diploma, degree, or accredited trades programs. Submit a brief essay describing your educational goals and demonstrated financial need. Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counsellor or principal which speaks to hard work, dedication and commitment to educational goals.  

 

J. L. PHELPS

A scholarship for post-secondary Yukon students studying:

  1. engineering

  2. business management OR 

  3. the sciences

 

J. R. McLACHLAN

A scholarship for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year post-secondary student or graduate student studying for a university degree in mining engineering, geological engineering or geology (in order of preference).  Two-years Yukon residency.

 

JAMES W. MURDOCH

A scholarship for a Yukon resident studying music, drama, or the fine arts.

 

JIM McFAULL / BANYAN GOLD

A scholarship for students who are studying in the fields of geology, mining-related engineering, geophysics or earth sciences. Applicants must be a Yukon resident, attending Yukon University, or working for a placer mining / exploration company; and must provide a statement about their connection to the Yukon's mining industry.

JOAN BILTON (Not available in 2024)

A scholarship for a student who has graduated from Dawson City senior secondary school or Dawson City Campus of Yukon University and has been accepted at an accredited post-secondary institute. Applicants must demonstrate active involvement in volunteer work in their community. Academic achievement will be considered.

 

JOAN SHAXON

A scholarship to assist a Yukon student studying in the fields of: 

  1. fine arts 

  2. art history

  3. museum studies OR

  4. arts administration

 

JOAN M. VEINOTT

A scholarship for a Yukon student studying at a college or university in the field of social sciences, particularly the humanities.  Applicants must have graduated from a Yukon secondary school. 

 

JOE GOODEILL 

A scholarship to assist Yukon students enrolled in post-secondary education outside of the Yukon and who is studying medicine, specifically sports medicine. Applicants must have graduated from a Yukon secondary school.

 

JOHN & DORIS STENBRATEN

A scholarship for a student pursuing studies in mining and a second scholarship for a student studying animal husbandry.

 

JOHN BUNKER

A scholarship for a Yukon student to pursue post-secondary studies in the fields of:

  1. the trades

  2. health sciences OR 

  3. general sciences

Preferences for students who can demonstrate financial need. High academic grades are not a requirement.

 

JOHN ROWAN

A scholarship established by the Rowan family for post-secondary studies in:

  1. teacher training or

  2. registered apprenticeship trades training programs

 

KENNETH ROBERT JONES

A scholarship for a Yukon resident pursuing either aircraft restoration or aircraft maintenance engineering. Must demonstrate financial need and have resided in Yukon for minimum of 5 years.

 

KLONDIKE DEFENCE FORCE

A scholarship for a student who is conducting research about, or studies in, Yukon history. This fund established in 1966 to battle the take-over of Klondike history by other parts of Canada.

 

KLONDIKE PLACER MINERS’ ASSOCIATION – INDIAN RIVER

A scholarship open to members of the KPMA and their immediate families. Requirements:

  • Yukon graduate enrolled in post-secondary studies

  • A letter of recommendation from any professional person aware of your career goals

  • A brief essay on placer mining what it means and what it has done for you

 

KONRAD & ANNE DOMES 

A scholarship for post-secondary students enrolled in architecture or drafting. Three-year Yukon residency required.

LAWRENCE VANO

A scholarship for post-secondary students enrolled in fisheries sciences, biology, and/or aquaculture.

​

LES McLAUGHLIN

A scholarship for a Yukon high-school graduate studying for a degree or certificate in journalism. Student must have good academic grades. 

​

MARIEL LACASSE

A scholarship for a Yukon graduate pursuing a certificate or degree in:

  1. child development

  2. physiotherapy OR

  3.  occupational therapy

Two-year Yukon residency required.

 

MARILYN KING

A scholarship for a Yukon resident pursuing post-secondary studies in business (e.g. business management, accounting). Applicants must demonstrate financial need and good grades.  Five-year Yukon residency required.

 

MARNIE & BILL DRURY

A scholarship for Yukon students attending an accredited art or music school.

 

MARVIN CRAWFORD

A scholarship for an established Yukon resident, who has exhibited mechanical abilities, to further their skills in refrigeration, air conditioning, or allied mechanical trades at a properly recognized educational institution or factory training facility sponsored by equipment manufacturers.

 

MARY & OLE LUNDE

A scholarship for Yukon post-secondary students enrolled in: full-time studies in the fields of medical technologies, health sciences or medical studies (medicine or nursing). Two-year Yukon residency required.

 

MATTHEW WATSON

A scholarship for Yukon post-secondary students studying scientific research or medicine. 

 

MATTHEW WEBSTER

A scholarship for a Yukon resident studying trades, design, or construction at a technical school or apprenticeship program.  Two-year Yukon residency required. Two letters of reference demonstrating creativity, diligence, and enthusiasm. 

 

MAUREEN (BENNETT) & GILLES FONTAINE LEGACY

A scholarship for physically challenged persons pursuing post-secondary studies.

 

MELISSA DAWN ATKINSON

A scholarship ($2,000) established for a Yukon First Nation student who is pursuing a law degree and is enrolled in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year studies. â€‹

 

MENTAL WELLNESS

A scholarship for a student pursuing a field of study related to mental health. Two potential fields of study could be, but are not limited to, counselling and psychiatric nursing. Applicants must provide a statement about how their education will contribute to the mental wellness of Yukoners. Preference to those who demonstrate financial need.

MICHAEL J WOODS

A scholarship for a student pursuing post-secondary studies in STEM education at a trades school, technical college or university. Applicants must provide a statement about their passion for innovation and their possible involvement in Robotics, and/or Destination Imagination, and/or a STEM program. Additional statements about community contributions, financial need, and intent to return to the Yukon will be requested in the application.

MORRIS LAMROCK

A new scholarship established with the support of the Whitehorse Community Thrift Store Society for Yukon students who are pursuing studies related to environmental sustainability or community-building and who plan to make a positive difference in the world through one or both of these two means.  Applicants are required to provide a statement about their commitment to community service of current and past involvement in projects related to environmental sustainability or community-building, or both.

 

NORTHERN WRITERS CIRCLE (Not available in 2024)

A fund established to promote Yukon writers of any genre who are previously published. Five-year continuous Yukon residency required.

 

PAT & DONALD MERRILL

A scholarship for a Yukon school graduate pursuing post-secondary studies in:

  1. trades training OR 

  2. Yukon environment's natural resources. 

Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Three-year residency required.

 

PAT KOHLER

A scholarship for a young person to receive extra training in dance outside of the Yukon. Three years Yukon residency and a letter of reference from your dance teacher is required. 

 

PATNODE FAMILY 

A scholarship for a post-secondary student specializing in:

  1. art-related studies OR

  2. mining, geology or gemology

 

PETER JENKINS MEMORIAL

A scholarship for a student who is planning to return to Dawson City to use their skills in the community. Applicants must provide a statement about their involvement in the community. Three years residency and demonstration of financial need is required.

PETER LUCAS

A scholarship for post-secondary or post-graduate Yukon students pursuing studies in Renewable Resources. Must be a Canadian Citizen living in the Na’cho Nyak Dun/Northern Tutchone district.  Two-year residency required unless applicant has been living outside of the territory for educational purposes. 

 

PORTER CREEK CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION

A scholarship to assist graduates of Porter Creek Secondary School who are entering a university or vocational/technical/trade school and have been a resident of Porter Creek for a minimum of two years at the time they complete their last year of high school. Candidates will be evaluated on the following attributes: citizenship & community involvement, character, conduct, and academic standing. Two letters of reference and proof of residency are required.

RENDEZVOUS ROTARY CLUB - PRESIDENT'S AWARD

A scholarship ($1,000) to support the vocational development of Yukon students, in particular a student pursuing a career in a health-related field. Applicants must: 

  • Provide a statement about their communication skills, volunteerism, and how their values reflect Rotary values

  • Be a Yukon graduate

  • Be enrolled in a minimum 2-year health related program

  • Provide two letters of reference

 

RICK & MAUREEN NIELSEN - ACTION CANADA NORTHERN YOUTH RESEARCH AWARD

A scholarship for a student who is working on a community-based research project activity, or component of a research project, which demonstrates research and leadership skills. Research to be focused on climate change impacts and adaptation of the health and well-being of Northern communities. Research can be based upon natural, traditional, or social science topics.

 

ROBERT & JEAN CAMPBELL

A scholarship for Yukon students, with a preference for students who have resided in Atlin, BC. Applicants must be studying in the field of business management or administration. Applicants must have one-year Yukon or Atlin residency and must be registered in a recognized post-secondary institute of learning. 

 

ROBERT A. WILSON

A scholarship established to provide financial support for a Yukon student who is enrolled full-time in a trade or technical program or school.

 

ROD TAIT MEMORIAL

A scholarship for a post-secondary student pursuing studies in agriculture or who is pursuing skills that support agriculture. 

 

ROY MINTER

A scholarship to be granted to worthy applicants for the scholarly research and authorship of Yukon history.

 

RYAN DOWNING

A scholarship to support students who are actively participating in competitive cross-country skiing or competitive swimming and are intending to pursue training and competitive opportunities over the coming year. 

 

SCHMIDT FAMILY

A scholarship for women studying law. Demonstrated financial need and good grades required. Five-year Yukon residency required. Established by Ballarat Mines and the family in memory of Marion & Harold Schmidt and their son Craig Anthony.

SGT. JAMES GICZI

A scholarship ($500) for a student studying forensic identification, criminology (criminal justice), or forensic sciences, who is enrolled in their 2nd year of studies or higher. ​Preference will be given to RCMP family members, followed by family members of other police forces.

​

SHIRLEY WILLIAMS

A scholarship for a Yukon resident who is pursuing post-secondary training in the field of education. A high school or university transcript is required, whichever is most recent. Applicants are also asked to submit information about their community activities. 

 

SMYTH FAMILY

A scholarship for a veteran or a Yukoner who has been a cadet.  Proof is required. One-year Yukon residency is required. 

 

SOPHIE PARTRIDGE

A scholarship for a Yukon resident who is enrolled in:

  • any registered Trades Training Certification, or

  • any Technical Training Course, or

  • in a Construction Design program

STUART-SIM NORTHERN EDUCATION

A scholarship for studies in any area which would be of benefit to the development of northern communities, including but not limited to: 

  • the areas of justice

  • the environment

  • alternate dispute resolution

  • aboriginal law

This fund was established to honour the the spirit and work of Judge Barry Stuart and Bill Sim.

Must demonstrate financial need and evidence of remaining in or returning to the Yukon.

 

SUSAN THOMPSON / FISH4KENYA

A scholarship to support students who are furthering their education in any field of social justice, and to encourage study in social justice and global solidarity.  Applicants must submit a short essay describing their educational goals and how these contribute to social justice. 

 

TAMARA GUTTMAN MEMORIAL 

A scholarship for a student enrolled in post-secondary studies in dance. (Available in 2023)

A second scholarship for a student of social sciences or the trades. (Not available in 2024)

 

TANNER FAMILY FUND

A scholarship for post-graduate students pursuing environmental studies. Five-year residency is required.  

 

THOMAS J. BLACK

A scholarship to support a Porter Creek Secondary School graduate enrolled in post-secondary environmental studies.

TIMOTHY BIERLMEIER

A scholarship to assist Yukon post-secondary and post-graduate students in electrical engineering, electrical technology or any electrical-enhanced studies and who are attending or planning to attend a post-secondary institution and /or continue studies by distance learning. Apprenticeship graduates may apply to this fund if their studies are a continuation of their apprenticeship and who wish to enhance their careers by furthering their education.

TONY DE LA MARE

A scholarship for studies in the health sciences fields. The intention of the fund is to provide support for students who are seeking training for future work in order to turn their lives around. Three year residency is required and an intention to return to Yukon.  

​

VANCOUVER YUKONERS' ASSOCIATION

VILLAGE OF MAYO HERITAGE 

A scholarship for a Mayo-area (Mayo, Stewart Crossing, Elsa, Keno) student pursuing post-secondary studies (college, university or trade school).  Applicants to provide a short essay on how their education plans will benefit the community and Yukon as a whole.

 

WHITEHORSE BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S CLUB BURSARY

A scholarship awarded to a woman furthering her education at any recognized educational institution. Demonstrated financial need. Two-year Yukon residency required.

 

WHITEHORSE COPPER MINES (not available in 2024)

 A scholarship for a graduate of a Yukon high school who is studying in a discipline related to mining. Applicants must be entering into their second year of studies, at a minimum.

 

WHITEHORSE GLACIER BEARS SWIM CLUB

A scholarship to assist current or past club members with post-secondary education at a recognized university, college or trade school. Must have been a member of Glacier Bears for three consecutive seasons. 

 

WHITEHORSE LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

A bursary ($1,500) to assist a Yukoner who graduated from a Yukon high school and is attending post-secondary education. 

 

WHITEHORSE LIONS CLUB JOHN FLESHER FLYING SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship ($1,500) to assist a Yukoner with flight or ground school.

WHITEHORSE LIONS CLUB LLOYD RYDER SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship ($1,500) to assist Yukon residents engaged in accredited apprentice trades training programs.

YUKON ANNIVERSARIES COMMISSION TOURISM SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship to fund Yukon students pursuing tourism-related studies: e.g., tourism management, administration, marketing, hospitality, mountain rescue, ski patrol, avalanche control, search/rescue, camp expediters. One-year continuous Yukon residency required. Applicants must submit an essay how about how this award will provide future benefits to and/or support for Yukon tourism industry.

YUKON FIRST NATIONS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

A scholarship for Yukon First Nations students who are pursuing studies in a profession, in a trade, or in business or commerce. Applicants must submit a statement about their chosen field of study and how it will prepare them to become an independent, self-sufficient member of their community.

YUKON FIRST NATIONS HERITAGE

A scholarship for Yukon First Nations students. Established by donation from the original Yukon Indian Craft Shop for the education of Yukon First Nations children and to preserve the cultural heritage of Yukon First Nations people.

YUKON ORDER OF PIONEERS

Three scholarships (each for $1,000) for Yukon residents are awarded through this fund each year. Applicants must be graduates of a Yukon secondary school and pursuing post-graduate work (master’s degree or PhD) at a recognized Canadian University. Applications must include the following:

  • a letter of admission indicating the university and the post-graduate program

  • a current transcript

  • a resume indicating the Yukon school from which you graduated and relevant educational and work experience, and your career objectives. 

 

YUKON OUTDOORS CLUB

A scholarship for a Yukon student attending a recognized post-secondary course of study in the field of wildlife management or whose studies qualify them to work in a national/territorial park or an historic preserve.

 

YUKON RECYCLING RESEARCH

A scholarship ($2,500*) to support a student to research and study activities to promote and enhance recycling and other strategies to reduce waste in the Yukon. Students may apply more than once.

*This award is either a scholarship or a grant each year.

YUKON SCOUT COUNCIL - SHAWN KITCHEN MEMORIAL 

A scholarship for a Yukon resident who was a registered Scout or Girl Guide for at least five years after the age of 12 years. Applicants can apply up to three years after completing their service and can receive up to two grants. Contact the Yukon Scout Council to confirm eligibility and to apply

YWCA of YUKON SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN

A scholarship for a woman, 25 years of age or over, requiring financial assistance to further their education. Five-year Yukon residency required. Demonstrated financial need.
